Religious Education Curriculum

The new national curriculum for Religious Education (RE) in Catholic Schools in Aotearoa New Zealand is named:  “Tō Tãtou Whakapono – Our Faith”.

 

The themes that are taught throughout the school are:

Te Atua                            God

Te Rongopai                    Good News

Ā Tātou Whakapapa      Our Story

Kia Noho Hāhi                Being Church

 

There are five cross themes:

Mana Tapu                      Grace

Aroha Pūmau                  Holiness

Tika                                  Justice

Whakaaronui                  Wisdom

Īnoi                                   Prayer

 

Under the four main themes, each Year level works with an overarching word.

Years 1 and 2     Whakatau                       Welcomed

Years 3 and 4     Aroha mai Aroha atu     Loved

Years 5 and 6     Oho Ake                         Inspired

Years 7 and 8     He Iriiringa                     Called

 

Information about what children are working on and learning about at each level is shared with parents and whanau through the school newsletter and Whanau Connection pages. The Whanau Connection pages are provided in the programme.
